About Ely: Ely lies eleven and a half miles north of Cambridge. A small
cathedral city, with a long and colourful history. The cathedral dominates
many scenes, but Ely has a lot more to offer and is full of fascinating
buildings, shops & industries, many of which still survive today. |

About
Pamela Blakeman: Pamela Blakeman was born in Ely and apart
from a spell away at University and at the start of her teaching career; she
has spent her whole life in Ely. Pamela started her collection of photographs
and ephemera of Ely over 25 years ago. Her collection now contains over 4,000
images of Ely, covering every aspect of life since the mid-1800s. This Ely
Archive is a tribute to the painstaking work of Pamela Blakeman in the
collecting and researching of the items included here and it will delight and
enthral you through your own journey. |
