Interactive CAMBRIDGE CD-ROM (ONLY £10 & FREE P&P)

This is a cut down version of the original Cambridge Explorer, but with significant changes.

Removed –             The W.P.Spalding Directory and Street Index for 1904.

Photographs –      New Photograph Album enables the user to few all photographs in order.

No more back and forth from the Indexes.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE NEW PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM INTERFACE

(Note this is a full Photograph Page from the CD-ROM – it will take time to load)

New Category Albums make it easier to view the photographs for a given Category.

View all 274 Categories in alphabetical order.

New Category Albums use 5 Thumbnails across the screen for easier navigation.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE CATEGORY ALBUM INTERFACE

(Note this is a full Category Page from the CD-ROM – it will take time to load)

New Street, Public Houses & Traders Index make finding photographs much easier.

130 New Photographs added, all date from before 1940.

There are now over 1,150 Photographs included on the CD-ROM

Maps -                    No change, except with a final drill down facility which enables the user to see the max-zoom

Map in jpeg format. These are clearer than the final gif image.

Tours -                   The same tours as before, but linked to the new Photograph & Category Albums.

This is effectively Version 2 of the Cambridge Explorer, but without the WP Spalding Street Index for 1904.

It is far easier to use and navigation is quick.

Note: The Cambridge Explorer web-site and CD-ROMs are written using VML (Vector Mark-up Language).

VML is part of a submission for recommendation to the World Wide Web Consortium.

At present only Microsoft Internet Explorer v5 or newer caters for this facility.

Current versions of Netscape Navigator do not. Other browsers have not been tested.

VML reduces graphic file sizes and speeds up graphic file download times.

If you are unable to read the web-pages on the rest of this web-site, you will not be able to read the CD-ROMs either.
