The Photograph Collection

There are 189 locations from the “old” county of Cambridgeshire included on the CD-ROM.

Every location covered has at least 5 photographs. The larger locations have many more. Cambridge & Ely have 50 photographs.

 

Cambridge – The CGM Hatfield Photographs

Included for Cambridge are approximately 50 photographs taken by CGM Hatfield of Bottisham. These are mostly taken in the 1930s and depict a changing face of Cambridge. Including the building sites (either before or during the building work) of Sussex Street, Market Hill, Christ’s Lane and Silver Street (Queen’s College - west of the river). Most of these photographs haven’t been seen since they were taken

 

Viewing the Photographs

The photographic files can be viewed in various ways:-

  1. “The Photo Album” – view each photograph in alphabetical order
  2. “The Location Album” – view each location in alphabetical order, with thumbnail photographs linked direct to the “Photo Album”
  3. “The Category Album” – view 17 different categories (listed below), with thumbnail photographs linked direct to the “Photo Album”

Just click on the Print Icon provided. The photographic files are designed to print to a standard A4 printer.

  

Click on the Zoom Icon to see the photograph in more detail. You will be amazed at the detail.

Never before have so many photographs of Cambridgeshire been available from one source.

All 189 Locations in alphabetical order are included. Each of these contain thumbnails linked direct to the Photo Album, plus direct links to the Kelly’s 1904 map and Kelly’s 1904 Directory pages. The numbers of photographs per location will be added shortly.
